Intestinal antiseptic from the group of nitrofurans – it is commonly used for treatment of the acute diarrhoea of infectious (even if causative agent is unknown) or obscure causation; chronic colitis and enterocolitis of contagious causation. Pronounced effect of the drug shall be observed already during the first hours of treatment. Nifuroxazide has a wide range of antibacterial effect including its activity in relation to the Vibrio cholerae.
