Complex mucolytic, expectorant, antibacterial and immune stimulatory medicinal product, which contains aqueous extracts of the Plantago lanceolata (narrowleaf plantain) and Malva including ascorbic acid. Active substances of plantain leaves are: mucuses, iridoid glycosides (aucubin), saponins, flavonoids, polysaccharides and organic acids. Saponins and other active substances of the plantain extract stimulate secretion of bronchial glands in such a way increasing the amount of expectoration and reducing its viscosity. Mucuses form protective layer by reducing irritation of mucous membranes of upper respiratory passages; they increase mucolytic effect, reduce irritation of tussal receptors and provide a barrier against infection. Due to the presence of iridoid glycosides, flavonoids and organic acids the plantain extract also has immune stimulatory, anti-inflammatory, anaesthetic, antihypoxic, antibacterial and antiviral effects.
